With more than 16 track day events taking place all around the UK per week, track day racing has becoming increasingly popular and is open to any driver.

MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION
Pace Ward first became involved in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution scene over 20 years ago, when company director Jeremy Pace took an Evo 5 RS for a long test drive for a local newspaper article. In the coming years, Pace Ward have insured many Mitsubishi Evo's under our track day insurance scheme.Despite being based on the Mitsubishi Carisma saloon, the Evo VI (as it is usually called) is effectively a road-going version of Mitsubishi's World Rally Championship winning car, and even in its less extreme guises never feels anything but ridiculously quick. Used Evo VI's are appreciating in value and there are number of models sought after with a fantastic line up such as the GSR, RS, RS II, RSX, Tommi Makinen Edition & Extreme. This makes the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo one of the most popular track day cars you can get.
NISSAN GTR
Manufactured by the Japanese retailer, the Nissan GT-R is a high-performance sports car first unveiled in 2007. The four-seater two-door car uses a twin-turbo V6 engine and hi-tech electronically controlled four-wheel drive to deliver supercar performance to the driver. Once criticised for feeling too cheap inside, Nissan have made strides in that area by introducing a more stylish interior which provides comfort that can match their competitors, in the Nissan GT-R’s recent 2016 model. This ultra-powerful and comfortable car makes it a great car to drive on the track with the actual price of the car being relatively modest.
SUBARU IMPREZA
First manufactured in 1992, Subrau Impreza offer plenty of power and secure handling to the driver. Subaru Impreza WRX has whopping 221 bhp and with a bit of tuning to the car and a few chassis tweaks this car can become a beast on the track day. Furthermore, the car can be brought for a cheap price with a price point around 2-3k.
HONDA CIVIC / HONDA CIVIC TYPE R
Another Japanese car, Honda created a hatchback with a sprinkle of Formula 1 performance in the Honda Civic Type R. A car perfect for track day with a 2-litre engine and 6-speed manual gearbox, the Civic Type R is rapid when accelerating through the gears. The Type R benefits from the same ergonomic and technological upgrades as the standard Civic except it is longer, wider and of better quality. To put into perspective, the potential speed of the Type R - Honda claims the Type R will complete a hot lap of the Nurburgring faster than a Lamborghini Gallardo! That would be a sight to behold and furthermore the car comes in at a price point of £30,000.
RENAULT CLIO
Renault Clios are a fun track day car for someone who is just entering track racing. Renault Clios would be an entry level 1 car but still has several benefits to the driver. The sport version of this car is cheap, lightweight, powerful and simple to fix. Upgrades part are not also hard to find because of the popularity Clios have as a track car. This makes it ideal to use on the racing track and experiment with tweaks and upgrades.
FORD FIESTA ST
Ford Fiesta ST is a budget friendly track day car which offers strong performance. Ford’s are generally very reliable, they offer strong grip and handling which is needed when going around the race track. With a 148 bhp and nimble chassis, the basis of a fun track day car is there. Alongside being a sensible road car, it makes the Ford Fiesta ST a popular track day car.
BMW M3
BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 series. The super saloon is powered by a twin-turbocharged with a straight-six engine driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox or the recommended upgrade; optional seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This means the M3 has performance capabilities from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds! This is luxurious and prestige car which has super performance on the track and makes it one of the most popular track day cars around.
MAZDA MX5
Mazda MX5 may not be the most eye-catching track day car but it offers the performance capabilities you’ll want for a cheap price. The MX5 is easy to upgrade and modify as parts are readily available. It offers strong car handling around corners which makes it a versatile track car with the ability to upgrade parts.
